THE BOUQUET & GARTER TOSS
At creativedjservices we've performed literally thousands of Bouquet & Garter tosses and we add some special unique performance elements with our custom props etc. but there are plenty of things that you can do yourself DIY to drastically increase the level of joy and impact for yourself and your guests.
When Should It Be Scheduled?
The Bouquet Toss and the Garter Removal occur in quick succession and are generally scheduled for after dinner. Most couples adhere to the age-old tradition of conducting these rituals during the dancing portion of the evening, a choice that can often create some un-intentioned, slightly negative results.
In most cases your DJ will have built a thriving dance floor and lots of energy by the time these events take place. That DJ now has to watch as your dance floor is cleared and the energy in the room takes a big dip.
After the Garter is all wrapped up your DJ will crank up the music and once again open the floor which will quickly fill with happy, gyrating guests. Or will it? In many cases a crowd can be a lumbering, fickle beast that is slow to react.
Your DJ will be left doing everything in their power to build another dance floor while you lament the fact that the floor isn't going very well.
An obvious, guaranteed solution to this situation is to re-schedule the Bouquet and Garter for any time between the dessert and the First Dance which signals the start of the dancing and party portion of the evening.
If you'd like to have your Bouquet and Garter occur during the dancing it's best to schedule it for early in the evening soon after the First Dance. This way the event may be finished before the dance floor really gets fired up thereby diminishing the level of interruption.
The Order of Events
The Bouquet Toss usually precedes the Garter and here's the usual order of events.
Your DJ will invite all of the single ladies and men to the dance floor or area of your choice. Your DJ will gather up all single ladies in one area behind the Bride. On a count of three the Bride will toss the Bouquet, the first lady to catch it is the next to get married.
After the toss your DJ will have the Bride sit in a chair and then instruct the Groom to remove the Garter. We have many special concepts that we can add which really elevate your entertainment level.
All of the single men will then take the place of the single women and upon a count of three the Groom tosses the Garter.
The first single man to catch the Garter will be the next to get married.
An option is to then have the man who caught the Garter replace it on the leg of the lady who caught the Bouquet. A further option is for them to then join each other in a dance. As with every other detail of your event the choice of which items to incorporate and the order in which they will occur.
